Christmas, also known as Christmas Day, is a traditional Western holiday celebrated on 25 December each year. The Mass is a rite of worship in the Church. Christmas is a religious holiday, so called because it is celebrated as the birth of Jesus.
Christmas is the Western equivalent of New Year's Day, a holiday set aside in honour of Jesus. Since the reform and opening up of the country, Christmas has been introduced to China, and the Chinese people have begun to celebrate the festival in a "Chinese" way, amidst the clash of Western and Chinese cultures.
The Chinese "Christmas" is fascinating and contradictory. China is not a religious country, and it is probably not a good idea to believe in Western religious observances.
But with all the hype and the love of young people, Christmas has gradually taken on a 'Chinese flavour', and it's not a bad idea to use it as a day to entertain the nation, as long as the right concept is maintained. This is why Christmas has always existed in China.
So, how is Christmas celebrated in China? What does Christmas in the West look like with elements of our national traditions?
1. Send an apple
Christmas in foreign countries is usually celebrated on Christmas Eve, 24 December. For foreigners, people mainly celebrate Christmas Eve by having a big meal, hosting bonfires, family parties, playing games and going to church for a blessing .......
If a foreigner had seen the Chinese behaviour at this time he would have been confused. On Christmas Eve, a gift called a "peace fruit" is passed around quietly in people's hands, signifying peace and happiness when they eat it. But giving or eating Christmas fruit on Christmas Eve is not a foreign custom, it is only in China.
2. Entertainment
In the West, Christmas Eve is generally a time to gather with family and wait for the traditional 'good news' and the distribution of gifts by Father Christmas.
In China, Christmas is like Valentine's Day in the West, where people use the day for their own entertainment. Most people go out to party with friends, watch movies, sing karaoke or go shopping.
Young couples have always seen it as a romantic day and will go out together on dates, holidays, to ski resorts or amusement parks.
3. Send a blessing
When Christmas comes, people send their best wishes to friends and relatives by sending postcards, WeChat, QQ, SMS, emails, red envelopes, etc. A delicate, illustrated and cheerful e-card also sends a lot of warmth and emotion in the gradually warming winter.
And how do we spend Christmas at ADAYO lighting?
