As a led light manufacturer, ADAYO lighting regularly develops new products, like we have been showing you our different new products one after another recently, so what is the process of new product development? Let us explain each one of them to you.
1. Project pre-study
The pre-study team carried out a comprehensive assessment of the feasibility and risks of the scheme, including photovoltaic parameters, heat dissipation and costs.
2. Product Formalization
The Marketing Department or the Product Department will provide the "Project Application", the Project Manager will provide the "Product Development Mission Statement" and the Structure Manager will provide the "Product Development Specification".
At this stage the detailed design of the product is completed as soon as possible, and the assembly process is to be considered to improve production efficiency while meeting the performance of the product.
3. Project Review
A review meeting is held at the initiative of the structure, with the participation of internal staff from biotechnology, quality and R&D. The project is launched.
Based on the review of the scheme, the design is adjusted and further optimised.
4. Application for mould opening
Fill in the "Application Form for Mould Opening", complete the drawings for mould opening, and send out the tender by procurement development. For mould opening products, you should apply for official material number first, if time is tight, RD temporary material number is allowed.
5. Tendering and finalising bids for mould opening. Tendering for mould opening items is normally 3-5 days. The final supplier for the mould opening is confirmed by the purchasing development.
6. Open the mould to fight together, structure optimization. Review with suppliers on specific mould opening details, notes and mould opening cycle.
7. Confirmation of open-moulded products, programme confirmation. (photoelectric parameters, temperature rise, structure)
If the molded parts are OK, we can arrange for approval. Other auxiliary materials such as screws and wires can also be approved first. If the molded product does not meet the requirements, the supplier will change the mold.
If the open moulded product does not have a major impact on the product performance, the EP prototype can be made first and the re-moulding can be carried out at the same time in order to meet the project schedule.
The design can also be optimised locally during the mould opening.
8. The preparation of materials, the production of EP prototype (fill in the "sample production contact sheet" or self-produced). The materials needed for the trial production should be prepared together, pay attention to the follow-up of power and light source materials.
9. EP testing, EP review (development quality group) Attention should be paid to EP testing to identify problems and improve them in time as soon as possible, without waiting for the review.
In case of NG (major defect), the programme is adjusted for improvement and the EP prototype is rebuilt.
10. Review OK, apply for a material number, issue a BOM, fill in the List of Parameters and default to PP trial production status. After the EP test is completed, the samples will be given to the Quality Department for reliability testing.
Material numbers can also be applied for during EP testing. At this stage, all material numbers required for the finished BOM should be applied for, including finished part material numbers and part material numbers, and followed by power supplies and light sources at the same time. The finished BOM cannot be completed without the application of material numbers for the light source power supply.
11. Prepare the trial production prototype and place the "Trial Production Task List".
The trial production prototype will be summarized by the structure, including finished products, structural parts, light sources, power supplies and other materials, see the "prototype list".
12. For materials that have not been identified, a Special Order is required.
Due to the generally long identification period, materials that have not completed identification are required to be issued with a Special Purchase Order before Biochemical Control can purchase trial production materials.
13. Follow up on trial production (attend assembly and confirm problematic points during trial production).
The prototypes will be provided to the quality department for reliability testing, and only models that pass the reliability test will be transferred to mass production. The specific time of the trial production will be notified to each person in charge of biotechnology, and each person in charge will need to come to the site to confirm the problems related to power supply and light source.
14. Biotechnology holds a trial production wrap-up meeting to confirm countermeasures for problem points and the completion time for improvement.
Some issues may have a greater impact on the product and require the attendance of a certified engineer or department manager for problem confirmation.
15. After the trial production problems are solved and the reliability test is OK, the "Trial Production Summary Report" will be issued by biotechnology and signed by all departments, and then the model will be transferred to mass production by the document control.
It may involve product re-moulding or material change, you need to apply for the material number and send ECN to change the system BOM.
16. Drawings are collated and filed and specifications are produced.
At this point, the development of a new product is essentially complete.
