How to do the Glow-wire tester?

The Glow-wire test is one of the tests in the safety test. Generally we will sample test incoming materials to ensure that the safety coefficient of fire and heat resistance of the materials used in the products can meet the standards as well as the safety and environmental protection of the materials used in the products.

 

 

Glow-wire test is mainly simulated under fault or overload conditions, testing the heat resistance and flammability of the materials used in the external structure of the product, to ensure that the heat-generating electronic components in the case of failure or overload of their own burned heat source can not cause a long period of time to the external structure of the fire.

 

The test determines the fire hazard of the test component material by testing whether the product ignites, whether it can be extinguished within the specified holding time (30 seconds), and whether the molten material will cause the bedding (silk paper) to ignite after ignition.And determination of the ignition, ignition temperature, flammability and flammability index of solid insulation materials and other solid combustible materials.

 

 

In strict accordance with IEC60598-1/GB7000.1 standard, ADAYO lighting use insulation materials to prevent electric shock, combustible materials with a distance of less than 30mm from the heating parts, and test the parts with a nickel-chromium scorching wire heated to 650℃. Any flames or incendiaries of the sample should be extinguished within 30s of removing the burning wire and the falling incendiaries or melts should not ignite the silk paper below (200 +/- 5 mm distance). (Including silk paper to meet the requirements of IS0 4046)

 

If the test sample does not ignite during the test, the sample is considered to have passed the test. Alternatively, the sample is considered to have passed the test if both of the following conditions are met:

1. If the flame then scorching wire leaves the sample for 30 seconds to extinguish;

2. When using kerchief, kerchief must not be ignited.

 

After the Glow-wire test is completed, we will use the test results to evaluate whether the incoming material meets the standards.
