IP stands for Ingress Protection. The IP rating is for foreign object ingress protection of electrical equipment enclosures and is derived from the International Electrotechnical Commission standard IEC 60529, which was also adopted as the American National Standard in 2004.
In this standard, for the protection of electrical equipment enclosures against foreign objects, the format of IP rating is IPXX, where XX is two Arabic numbers, the first marker number indicates the level of contact protection and foreign object protection, and the second marker number indicates the level of waterproof protection, the specific level of protection can be referred to the table below.
IP is an international code used to identify the level of protection, IP rating consists of two numbers, the first number means dustproof; the second number by means of waterproof, the larger the number means the better the level of protection.

1：Protected against the intrusion of objects larger than 50 mm, and prevented the human body from inadvertently touching the internal parts of electrical equipment
2：Protected from objects larger than 12mm, and prevented the fingers from touching the internal parts of the electrical equipment
3：Protects against the intrusion of objects larger than 2.5mm, and prevents the intrusion of tools, wires or objects larger than 2.5mm in diameter
4：Preventing the intrusion of objects larger than 1.0mm, preventing the intrusion of flies, insects or objects larger than 1.0mm in diameter
5：Dustproof Can not completely prevent the intrusion of dust, but the amount of dust intrusion will not affect the normal operation of the electrical
6: Dust-tight, completely prevent the intrusion of dust
Waterproof rating (number, degree of protection definition)
0：No protection, no special protection
1：Protected from dripping water intrusion, protected from vertical dripping water
2：Prevent drip intrusion when tilted 15 degrees, when the electrical equipment is tilted 15 degrees, still prevent drip
3：Prevent the intrusion of spray water, prevent rain, or vertical into the direction of the water sprayed by the angle of less than 50 degrees
4：Prevent splashing water intrusion, prevent water intrusion from splashing in all directions
5：Prevent the intrusion of water from large waves, and prevent the intrusion of water from large waves or water jets ejected rapidly
6：Prevent water intrusion of large waves, electrical equipment immersed in water in a certain time or water pressure conditions, but still ensure the normal operation of the equipment
